So I'm back in Vegas with nothing proper to draw on. Whats a guy to do? Commission (read: FORCE) his wordworker dad to build him an animation desk! Thankfully he agreed! It actually saved me a bundle, and is a huge step up from my portable one I bought a few years ago for about $300! This one can be angled at different degrees thanks to the little notches in the folding legs. The lighting setup we used uses 2 flourecent bulbs and bruther, IS IT BRIGHT! The most expensive part on it was probabaly center disc itself. $45 worth of translucent white plexiglass bought from a sign shop (its not available at hardware stores, in case anyone was wondering). And I still plan on buying a fancy pants ACME drawing disc once classes start back up, but this will do the trick for the summer for sure. I'm so happy to use this now!

I originally wanted this to be made entirely out of bamboo. With a built-in spot for my mp3 player. Scrap particle board was our comprimise. And there's gonna be a pencil rest at the bottom! YESSSS!!!

It's so NEAT and TIDY too. If I made it, there'd be rough edges and mismeasured planks... and probably electrical tape (because you can never find the good stuff when you need it!)
Is moving both of those props to angle your board a hassle? It might be good to add a horizontal bar linking the two. That way, if you move one, the other will move too!
You've inspired me to do a post about my drawing board.
Moving the little legs is really simple, you can just grab the sides of the desk and lift up and you'll hear up to 3 clicks, as the legs fall into place one of the 3 notches. Having a bar connecting the legs is a possiblity still, it would add stability, but it works so well already. It would add to the bulkiness and one of the things I like about this is it folds up real nice and portable-like. Plus I think when its at the 60 degree (the steepest) angle the lighting might get in the way of any horizontal bar. Nice idea tho, maybe in version 2!
I thought that the light might get in the way of that.
