More Pencil Tests

These were our last two animation projects of the semester, an animal walk cycle and a flour sack. We randomly picked objects out of a hat for the sack to interact with, and I got "groucho glasses." COMEDY GOLD!

Thanks you guys! Jeff, make sure to introduce yourself to me if u ever see me wandering around the halls next semester. Both of you have a great summer! I'm gonna keep practicing my life drawing so I can keep up with you two!

Brock, man, these are really great. Your work brings tears to my eyes, because you're the only person I've ever seen at Sheridan who likes to do really classic cartoony cartoons -- it's what I love!

Cat walk cycle -- Beautiful! Very solid construction, and the tail doesn't 'grow' when it moves! (which is a problem a lot of people seem to have). Look at those front paws, they're so sensitive! That back-front paw doesn't have as much lift as the first - was this intentional? (sory if that's picky!) The design of this cat is totally rad, too. I love that head!

Flour sack -- HILARIOUS! MAN! I love that head-scratch! The way he puts on the glasses is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. The smile and eye-brow deal is great, and the walk was the perfect touch for this object! Man, that was beautiful.

Your flour sach looks VERY different the the others I've seen from other folks. Yours is softer and rounder and maybe a bit taller. He's also very much more of a pear shape. Beautiful design!

Incredible.

You can marry my sister, if you want.

Whoops, I forgot to say that I was only kidding about the 'tears-to-my-eyes' bit. I'm not THAT friggin' dramatic.

I want to look at these frame by frame!

Yeah the cat walk has issues, I wanna do a better one this summer to spruce up my portfolio. I wanna do a baboon walk too! And a silly dance cycle!

Mitch I really think you'll like it here. There's so many people doing so many different styles, and everyones so damn young and talented! I was kind of shocked at the lack of people who were really into "cartoony" cartoons myself, but everyone seems eager to try all sorts of different styles, it keeps the projects interesting and is very inspiring. Thanks for the comments!

Great job at the animations Brock. Your animal walk looks really solid. I think it's also pretty amazing how you got so much acting and action in for the 12 sec limit. I was really struggling with the time limit. Perhaps my flour sac moves and reacts a bit slow ^^;.. I'm also wondering.. how do you post up your animations on youtube?.. i'm thinking of posting up some of my animation works as well =)

You gotta make them really small filesizes first before Youtube will accept them. I make mine all under 1 meg by using Windows Movie Maker. Its a free program included with every PC I've ever owned. Load your movie clip in there, drag it to the timeline, then click "save to my computer". You'll see a slider where you can adjust the filesize and quality. I make it the lowest possible, so they load fastest on the web. Then just go to Youtube and upload em there! Youtube still has some issues I find though. It cut off the last few frames of my flour sack, he is supposed to walk offscreen completly. Can't wait to see yours Jinny!
